Where am I ???

Are you where you want to be?

Where am I?

Where am I??

It’s been almost two years now since my brother, sister, and I met at the attorney’s office to close our dad’s estate.  Having to deal with this kind of thing is never pleasant, and as I left the office that day, I decided to take the back roads home so my mind could clear a little.  It was a beautiful afternoon for a drive through the country.  I was on roads that I’ve been around all my life, so I saw no need to set my GPS.  There was one turn that I was not completely sure about, but since it was marked by a small sign on the side of the road, I wasn’t worried about finding my way.  I felt quite confident driving along mindlessly enjoying the sun and the woods.

But after a while – quite a long while – I began to think that the trip might be taking a little longer than I remembered.  I started paying attention to where I was, and suddenly realized to my dismay, that I had absolutely no idea where I was!  I was seeing road signs (occasionally) and even school names that I had never heard of before.  How was this possible???  I had been around this area all of my life.  Where on earth was I???   Obviously I had missed my sign. It quickly became apparent that I had gone way off my intended course!  Lol!  So, I did the normal thing to do when one is lost – I  consulted my map app to find the closest way back home.  But… lo and behold, I was so far out in the country that there was no internet!  Oh no!

Where am I? It was overshadowed

Maybe it was overshadowed by other things.

I realized that, too often, we have those moments in life.  We are just traveling along, mindlessly enjoying the journey when we suddenly realize that we have absolutely no idea where we are.  We are not even sure where we missed it.  But somehow, where we are is not at all where we intended to be.  Maybe we always meant to repair that broken relationship.  Maybe we meant to spend more time with our kids.  Maybe we meant to plan those getaways with our spouse.  Maybe we meant to finish that degree.  Maybe we meant to start going to church.  Maybe we meant to change careers.  Yet, here we are. Out in the middle of nowhere having no idea where we are and no internet to show us the way.  Maybe we missed that little sign completely.  Maybe it was overshadowed by too many other things making it difficult to discern.  At any rate, here we are.  The question is what do we do now?

There are simply too many obstacles.

Or maybe, as you have been reading my posts, you have no idea at all what I’m talking about.  Maybe the idea of there being a path to peace and joy seems totally foreign to you.  Maybe you think that a life with no fear is a ridiculous, unattainable fantasy – there are simply too many obstacles.  Maybe you can no longer even imagine what it would be like to have peace.

Let me offer you a map today that really is connected to a power source – unlike my map app with no internet.  Lol!

The only way to find peace is to get it from the only One who can give it:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.   John 14:27a

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.   John 16:33a

Great peace have those who love your law.  Psalm 119:165a

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.                                            2 Thessalonians 3:16a

The only way to find freedom from fear is to get it from the only One who can give freedom:

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are                  truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”                         John 8:31-32

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.           John 8:36

The only way to find joy is to be connected to the source of joy:

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may                  be full.     John 15:11

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.        John 10:10b

There is only one way, and it is clearly marked!

So it really is impossible to have a life free from fear, filled with joy and peace, without Jesus.  Perhaps that is old news to you.  You may be well aware of the source of freedom, joy and peace.  You may have actually been plugged in at one time.  If so, then you just need to “re-center” and “re-route”.   And that’s exactly what this blog is designed to do – help you stay on the right course.

But maybe this is all new to you.  Maybe you’ve never been plugged in to the power source – maybe you’ve never even heard of it.  Maybe you’ve never been on course to experience freedom, peace, and joy.  The good news is that it’s never too late to plug in.  You can get connected today.  We are given very clear instructions.  There is one –  only one – way, and it is very clearly marked:

  1. God loves you:   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16
  2. Man is sinful and separated from God:   For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23
  3. Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin:   Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”.        John 14:6
  4. We must individually receive Jesus as Savior and Lord:    But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12

It is a very simple path to receive Jesus as savior and become a child of God.  When you are His child, you are in a position to be able to receive the blessings that He gives to His children.  If it is your desire to become a child of God today, please contact me so I can rejoice with you and provide you with some materials to help you get started on this road.  Please travel this path with us!  It’s a great place to be!!  🙂

GUARD RAIL:     You must be connected to the power source!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (ESV)
